Reproductive Health Services Improvement Project (TAHSEEN)

HCI has resumed the role of subcontractor to that US-AID project managed by Catalyst consortium which was lead by Pathfinder (2003-2005)

Within the overall framework of the project objectives and activities, HCI has been committed to building organizational and individual capacities of 22 districts health teams, Tahseen-1four local health authorities of four Upper Egypt governorates, and 56 community PHC units to ensure achieving a sustainable approach and systems. Moreover, the same continuous approach was adopted to coordinate with OB/Gyn and Pediatrics departments of local Schools of Medicine and Nursing Colleges to maximize the utilization of the best-qualified local expertise in the Governorate; whether from MOHP Directorates, Districts, and from the universities.

HCI has implemented a complete set of capacity building programs covering the following areas:

  1. An integrated quality supervision System has been designed, tested, and implemented.
  2. An integrated planning system has been designed, tested, and implemented.
  3. Capacity building program on the two systems was implemented for 17 districts’ health administrations.
  4. Integrated Clinical training program covered 78 senior physicians, 183 newly graduated physicians, 236 nurses, 83 lab technicians, 240 social workers, and 255 janitors
  5. Developing and installing various HSRP technical & managerial systems, e.g., referral, appointments, medical records, self-financing & service improvement fund, clinic management, clinic board, maintenance, planning, and logistics management system.
  6. A comprehensive coaching & On-the-Job Training program was implemented effectively and efficiently using local resources after strengthening their capabilities.
  7. A workable Home Care program for Mother & Child Health has been designed and implemented.
  8. Integrated Nutritional Health Program was conducted in one governorate covering 21 communities (KAP Assessment, Situational Analysis, Nutritional Health Status of School Students).
